Surefire M3 Combatlight Explosion


UPDATE: Just to clarify, since I came across a website with flashlight dweebs criticizing me for what I did or could have done wrong... I used three (3) brand new CR123A 3V lithium "Tenergy" batteries I bought online. Three (3) batteries are required to operate this light. Again, the batteries were brand new and I did not mix them. All three were "Tenergy" batteries. What I meant by "I knew it was a bad idea to use different batteries" was, I should have stuck with SureFire batteries. I'm at work in this video showing a Surefire M3 Combatlight that I use and just love as a favorite all-around tactical light. I temporarily ran out of Surefire batteries, so I used some CR123A 3V lithium "Tenergy" batteries. Don't use them for high-intensity flashlights, and I wouldn't even chance them in your digital camera, if it takes such batteries. The battery life was about half used judging by the normal yellowish light that it emits at that point. The light starts to get extremely hot in a matter of seconds. The tail cap, which is covered with a rubber knob, starts to inflate like a small balloon. I had a feeling that it was going to blow off, and it did, so I pointed the tail cap away from me, which was dumb because that left the lens facing the palm of my hand. But how was I to know that it was going to explode too? I got a few cuts from the lens that exploded just before I decided to drop the light. I'll contact Surefire and see if the lens can be replaced. Honestly, I feel like ...
